New Careers Planning Resources Added to the SEND Local Offer
We are pleased to share new careers planning resources on the Central Bedfordshire SEND Local Offer, including the My Careers Action Plan and supporting professional guidance. These resources have been developed to support young people with SEND to explore their strengths, aspirations and future goals, while helping schools and professionals deliver high-quality careers guidance and Preparing for Adulthood planning.
The resources can support:
- Young people to think about their future options and ambitions
- Parents and carers to have meaningful conversations about next steps
- SENDCOs, Careers Leaders and Careers Advisers to support transition planning
- Schools and colleges to strengthen Preparing for Adulthood and careers guidance pathways
- EHCP Annual Reviews for young people moving towards Post-16 education or training
- The My Careers Action Plan helps young people record their aspirations, explore education, training and employment pathways, identify any support they may need and agree practical actions to help achieve their goals.
Preparing for Adulthood and Employment
We encourage schools, colleges, careers professionals, young people and families to explore the new resources and use them to support positive, person-centred conversations about the future.
Spotlight On: Community Dental Services
Last week the Local Offer was out and about at the Central Bedfordshire Early Help Network Event, where we met the team from Community Dental Services.
Many people know about the service for children, but did you know that adults can access it too? As part of preparing for adulthood and supporting good health, Community Dental Services provides specialist dental care for adults who may have additional needs, disabilities, medical conditions or dental anxiety, helping people to maintain their oral health and wellbeing throughout life.
