Young people: turn your passion for the planet into action

Build skills, meet like-minded young people and help create a greener future.

Do you know someone aged 14 to 17 who is passionate about the environment? Our FREE Sustainable Student Programme is back, giving young people across Central Bedfordshire the chance to explore climate change, develop green skills and make a real difference in their schools and communities.

Whether at school or home-schooled, they can get involved, share ideas with like-minded young people and develop their own sustainability project.

Through the programme, they’ll take part in online and in-person workshops led by experts, exploring topics such as biodiversity, connecting with nature, climate anxiety and the role of modern zoos. They’ll also have the chance to showcase their project at a celebration event.

We’re working with partners including the University of Bedfordshire, Greensand Trust, Shuttleworth Trust, Wildlife Trust and Whipsnade Zoo to help young people build skills, turn their passion into action and create a more sustainable future.

Applications are now open and close at 5pm on Saturday 7 November 2026.

To apply, you must be aged 14 to 17 or in school Year 10, 11 or 12. Your application will need a teacher reference (unless home-schooled) and parental consent.
