Parish Council Vacancy – Join Our Team!

Our Parish Council currently has a vacancy for a Parish Councillor, and we are inviting enthusiastic, community-minded residents to apply. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in your local area.


Who Can Apply? – Eligibility Rules for Becoming a Parish Councillor

To stand for co-option or election as a Parish Councillor, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a British citizen, eligible Commonwealth citizen, or a citizen of an EU member state
  • Meet one of the following criteria:

• Be registered as a local government elector for the parish
• Have lived in the parish, or within 3 miles of it, for the last 12 months
• Have occupied as owner or tenant land or premises in the parish for the last 12 months
• Have had your principal or only place of work in the parish for the last 12 months

You must not be disqualified by law from holding the office (for example, due to certain criminal
convictions or bankruptcy restrictions).

What We’re Looking For

We welcome people from all backgrounds who:

  • Care about the community
  • Can spare some time to attend meetings and contribute ideas
  • Are willing to work collaboratively with fellow councillors and residents

No previous council experience is necessary — just enthusiasm and a willingness to get
involved.
